Initially, there was a barter in the Odessa markets, but later it became possible to buy for money, but the prices for all goods were much higher. In particular, for the whole research period the 8 markets functioned: «Novyi Bazar» («New Bazaar»), «Privoz», «Oleksiyivsky Rynok» («Oleksiyivsky Market»), «Starokoshiy», «Slobidsky», «Kazan and Yarmarkovy». One of the largest markets was the «Novyi Bazar».

In addition to markets (bazaars), there was the opening of commercial and industrial enterprises. It is established that during 1941-1944 the Romanian authorities opened 63 commercial and industrial enterprises, including: 7 restaurants, cafeterias, cafes; 31 grocery and gastronomic shops; 8 workshops of shoemakers, tailors, locksmiths, etc.; 6 hairdressers and laundries.

The authors came to the conclusion that trade in Odessa during the years of Romanian occupation had the following features: 1) a positive impact on people’s access to products (food security in the city); 2) a clearly regulated mechanism for controlling the quality of products, their sale (decrees of the Governor of Transnistria on trade rules); 3) conducting the analysis of the general economic situation in the city (functioning of the trade and intermediary office).</p>}, number={03}, journal={Acta de Historia & Politica: Saeculum XXI}, author={Tykhonenko, Iryna and Bilichenko, Lidiia}, year={2022}, month={May}, pages={4-12} }
